Bristol Zoo Gardens had been continually evolving for two centuries, right up until it closed in 2022. If a reimagined Bristol Zoo Gardens were to reopen, it would be different once again and would continue to evolve into the future. At the same time, history, heritage, tradition and lived experiences matter because they give our lives meaning. These photos show a very small part of the journey Bristol Zoo Gardens has been on since it opened to the public in 1836 and what it could become in the future.
